Source FM is a community radio station run for Falmouth Penryn and the surrounding areas in Cornwall UK. Its shows have a strong focus on Cornish events and music. The Source fm is a not for profit community interest company. It is staffed by 100% volunteer workforce and broadcasts over 100 hours of original programmes every week.
Source FM went to air in February 2009. To date, it has over 100 volunteers ranging in age from 8 to 80 years old, making a variety of programmes.
It broadcasts from 9am until 11pm every day.
Programmes range from soul music to rock, hiphop and dubstep, depending on the time and day. All shows are written, presented and recorded entirely by volunteers. While the majority of shows are music-based, there are comedy shows such as 'Dog with a Windy Face', the live magazine show 'Talk the Week' and specialist LGBT programming in the form of 'The Rainbow Source'.
The Source FM is responsible for creating one of the only community produced radio soap operas 'Carrick Roads'.
