East Jefferson High School is a public high school located in Metairie in unincorporated Jefferson Parish, Louisiana, United States.[1]

East Jefferson High School was built in 1955 in a residential neighborhood. The school serves grades 9-12. It is a part of the Jefferson Parish Public Schools system. The school has a rich music/band tradition. The band is referred to as "The Miracle Band from Warrior Land"

Notable alumni

Michael S. Walsh, (Class of 1974) is an attorney practicing law in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Walsh has appeared on Court TV, CNN, Fox News, NBC Today Show and Good Morning America providing commentary on various legal topics.

Mr. Walsh was appointed by Justice Katherine (Kitty) Kimbal to serve on the Louisiana Attorney Disciplinary Board. Walsh has served in this capacity since 2004. A 1983 graduate of the LSU Law Center, Mr. Walsh is a member of the Louisiana and Texas Bar Associations. Mr. Walsh is admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court, the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, the United States Middle, Eastern and Western District Courts of Louisiana, the Southern District of Mississippi and the Southern District of Texas.

Mr. Walsh is currently the Chairman of the Criminal Law Section of the Louisiana State Bar Association, a Past President of both the Louisiana Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the Baton Rouge Bar of Criminal Justice and a member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the Texas Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. Mr. Walsh is currently serving as a Director-At-Large of the Baton Rouge Bar Association and the Baton Rouge Bar Foundation. Mr. Walsh also serves as a member of the Executive Board of the Istrouma Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America and is a veteran of the United States Army.

Mr. Walsh is a past Chairman of the Board of the Capital Area Family Violence Intervention Center, Inc. having served in that capacity during the acquisition of the present Battered Women's Shelter.

Mr. Walsh has been active in the litigation of numerous constitutional issues and is currently representing multiple clients who are being investigated and prosecuted by the Federal Government.


  • Neil Reed (basketball) was most recognized for his choking incident with coach Bob Knight while attending Indiana University. Locals consider him one of the greatest in New Orleans metro history. He was named Louisiana Player of the Year in 1994 and was a two-time state MVP.


Ricky Chapagrall and Ronnie Chapagrall, class of 1975, wrote the Bleu Raeders Cadence, a derivative of the East Jeff Cadence (which they also wrote). David Arthur wrote the melodic parts (East Jeff Class of 1977). This cadence was used by the Championship Bleu Raeders Drum and Bugle Corps. This cadence is used by L.S.U., Ole Miss, and schools and colleges along the Gulf Coast.
