Aaron Clapham (born 15th January 1987) is a footballer who plays for Canterbury United FC and the New Zealand national football team having been selected in their squad for the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa.

Domestic Career

Clapham has played 17 times for Canterbury United having scored 6 goals from the centre of midfield. His first goal came in his club's 2-0 victory over Waikato on the 8th November 2009. He helped his side to 4th in the New Zealand Football Championship for the 2009-10 season. Clapham has been linked with A-league sides Wellington Phoenix FC, North Queensland Fury FC and British teams Hamilton Academical F.C., Kilmarnock F.C. and Preston North End F.C..

International Career

After impressing for Canterbury Clapham was the surprise call up by national coach Ricki Herbert for his sides 2010 World cup campaign. The decision seemed to of been made after an outstanding performance for a New Zealand A side against a New Zealand championship team. On hearing the news he said he was delighted and shocked as well.
