Katerina Gogou
(June 1, 1940 - October 3, 1993) Born in Athens, Greece during the Nazi occupation of the country in 1940. Following the end of WWII, Katerina's life would coincided with the Greek Civil War between Communist and reactionary parties that lasted over thirty years. Greek military junta ruled the country from 1967-1974, reaching a bloody climax in the shape of the Athens Polytechnic uprising in the 1973. The violent atmosphere that was Greece during and after World War II, created a very specific artistic flair in the nature of Katerina's work. Before her suicide in 1993 Katerina was featured in over thirty Greek films. Katerina's poetry, most notably "Three Clicks to the Left" has recently found new life in the modern political landscapes that shape the world in the new millenium.
