Pircher Oberland Spa is an Italian company operating in the field of eco-sustainable wooden constructions as well as in the field D-I-Y items and garden furnishings. In 2010 it has been awarded the Red Dot Design Award for ist modular wooden prefab called Planit® which shows many advantages in terms of eco-sustainability.
Definition of Planit®
Planit® is a product of Pircher – Division Living – winner of the Red Dot Design Award 2010. It is a modular prefab in natural wood planned by Studio Bestetti e Associati from Milan. Planit® modules have 3 different measures and can be combined in different ways , so to create different architectural compositions, which can serve as civil residences as well as production sites. The principal materials used are wood and glass; its structure allows a thermal and an acoustic isolation. The product innovation lies in the evolution of the concept of living which acquires another connotation, namely a more responsible and sustainability-oriented way of life.
Company history
Pircher Oberland Spa was founded in 1928 in Toblach, Italy as a sawmill, by Josef Pircher, supported by his son Reinhard in 1956, who later on would enlarge and diversify the production. Year after year the company grows under the management of the Pircher Family, thus achieving importance in the wood products market. Here are a few milestones in the history of the company:
1968 – realisation of the first original French sauna
1978 – production of„Holzmarkt D.I.Y“ product line starts up
1990 – warehouse and logistics of Holzmarkt products move to Bondeno di Gonzaga, Italy
1991 – product line "Tartaruga"is lauched, impregnated pine wood products for outdoor living
1992 – the first lamellar wooden beams are produced
1997 – production of "Vivitetto" , protective wooden structures, starts up
1997/98 – the company achieves certifications ISO 9001 and 14001
2003 – the new logistic centre and CRM centre open in Rolo. The same year Reinhard Pircher dies, his son Christian takes over the company management
2010 – the company is awarded the Red Dot Design Award for Planit®, eco-sustainable and design prefab
Today the company has 178 employers and a product assortment of 20000 products produced in 5 different factories in Italy. The company philosophy is based on the profound respect for nature and on the constant search for harmony according to nature teachings.
