Pernando Amezketarra

Fernando Bengoetxea Altuna, aka Pernando Amezketarra, was a bertsolari and folk guy. Was born in the village of Amezketa, specifically in farm of Espizaltxe in 1764

Son of Martin-Joxe and Joxepa, since he was very child he became known among the folk by his witty and his jokes, until he became an indispensable character in every fair, meeting, wedding...He was shepherd, as most people in his village in those days. Got married with Maria Joxepa Sagastume, and they had 9 child, while they lived in Ixpille and Azentzin Txikia farms. He died in this last one. He has been honoured in many occasions, and, the last time that this be did, an plaque was put in her birthplace, danced the dance group Goizaldi, they sang the bertsolaris Basarri and Uztapide and also featured Bordari poet, academic Antonio Arrue and the franciscan brother Fray Pedro Martín Zabala.
