The Emperor's Code is the eighth book in The 39 Clues series. This book is written by Gordon Korman.[1] On March 2, 2010 the cover was revealed to show a red mask with codes printed in certain areas over a purple background. After this release, readers were asked to find three out of the four codes printed on the mask, and, if they were successful, 39 Clues fans could read an excerpt from The Emperor's Code.[2][3]

Plot

Amy and Dan Cahill head to China after finding a note from Grace, their grandmother. They head to the Forbidden City and take a museum tour. Dan sneaks out and finds a piece of silk with this equation:

Janus+Lucian+Tomas+Ekaterina=Cahill

They leave the Forbidden City and Amy says things about their parents that upsets Dan and makes him run away. He gets kidnapped by Kabras and they dump him in Jonah Wizard's lollipop factory.Jonah treats him well gives him his own suite, taking him to concert, and letting him fly first class. Amy and Nellie head to Alistair Oh to help find him. Alistair translates a chinese newspaper that says Jonah is going to the Great Wall China.

Jonah has other plans though. Jonah cancels his flight to the Great Wall, knowing that Amy and Nellie are going there, and goes to a Kung Fu City. They enjoy it and Dan takes Kung Fu lessons. Later, while Dan explores a tunnel he finds lab equipment from Gideon Cahill's lab and a picture of Anne Bonny. The Wizards get a mysterious message that says to go to the Terracotta Warrior's place.

Meanwhile, Amy and Nellie look for Dan at the Great Wall and find a secret door. Nellie picks the lock and they come into a room that needs organizing and a light shines in showing Mt. Everest. While they were searching the Great Wall, Jonah and Dan check out the Warriors and get put in jail. Jonah's Dad gets them out and Jonah decides to quit the hunt. Dan leaves the Wizards and sees the Holts climbing Mt. Everest.

When Amy and Nellie get the A-Star, an advanced helicopter, ready, Dan meets up with them. Dan and Amy head up to Mt. Everest in the A-Star. They find the next clue, silk, and they lose the serum when Ian falls off the edge of a cliff. He hangs on to the edge and Amy saves him letting the serum plunge miles below. They then head to the Carribean to search for Anne Bonny, the lady in the picture Dan found.
