Biography
Valerio obtained his degree in 1978 at the University of Bologna, Faculty of Letters and Philosophy, School of Drama, Art and Music Studies. His degree thesis was focused on the history of civil and religious celebrations, social events and parties, festivals, feasts.
He began his artistic career designing and staging urban celebrations.
In the early '80s, he gained his fame revamping the Italian tradition of light installations and of Baroque fireworks and in 1982 he established Studio Festi together with Monica Maimone.
Valerio Festi developed his artistic career designing and staging performances in which key elements of the Italian culture (from Renaissance to Baroque) are mixed and renewed to create innovative languages of expressions.
He has been the artistic director of some of a considerable number of open air events and installations, all produced by Studio Festi.
