Miriam Ivette Pabón Carrión (born on January 3, 1985 in New York, USA) is a beauty pageant titleholder from Puerto Rico. Most recently Miriam represented Puerto Rico [1] at the Miss International 2008 pageant held in Macau on November 8, 2008 where she placed as one of the Top 12 semi-finalists [2]. On July 31, 2009, Pabón was crowned Miss Puerto Rico America 2009, and represented Puerto Rico at the Miss America 2010 pageant.

Biography

Mimi, as many nickname her, is a well known actress and model in Puerto Rico. She is also currently finishing a B.A. in Drama with a minor in Theatrical Education. As an actress, Pabón has filmed various commercials for known brands as Burger King, Jeep, Pepsi; various music videos for Latin artists such as NKlabe and Victor Santiago; and has also portrayed characters in short films, series, and theater productions. Pabón has also hosted live events and music interview programs. As a model, she has had the opportunity to pose for various fashion magazine editorials and covers, and also has become the image for various famous boutiques in Puerto Rico and designers.[vague] Pabón won this year the Buena Vida Swimsuit Edition, as the best body in her country, and in earlier years had won the best smile in a national competition for a gum brand.

Prior to becoming Miss Puerto Rico International, Pabón competed at the Miss World Puerto Rico 2008 pageant where she placed 3rd runner-up. And in 2002 she became Miss Puerto Rico Teen Latina, but ended up representing her country as Miss Puerto Rico Latina in the international pageant Miss World Latina in Miami, where she placed 1st runner-up at the age of 16.

She has had many contacts in the community service area. Pabón created a program called "Creando Sonrisas: Teatro para Todos" ("Creating Smiles: Theater for Everyone"), in which she gave different theater seminars to needed or abandoned children and abused women. In prior years, she worked in a federal program, tutoring students with grade problems in English and Spanish and also worked for the Department of Education of Puerto Rico in their public program "Escuela Abierta" (Open School), where she gave modeling and self-estime motivation classes.

She was the first contestant from Puerto Rico in half a century in the Miss America 2010 pageant, where she won the swimsuit competition.[3]
