Alerting users

  • {{alert/first}} ({{Contentious topics/alert/first}}) is used, on a user's talk page, to "alert", or draw a user's attention, to the contentious topics system if they have never received such an alert before. In this case, this template must be used for the notification.
  • {{alert}} ({{Contentious topics/alert}}) is used, on a user's talk page, to "alert", or draw a user's attention, to the fact that a specific topic is a contentious topic. It may only be used if the user has previously received any contentious topic alert, and it can be replaced by a custom message that conveys the contentious topic designation.
  • {{alert/DS}} ({{Contentious topics/alert/DS}}) is used to inform editors that the old "discretionary sanctions" system has been replaced by the contentious topics system, and that a specific topic is a contentious topic.

Miscellaneous

He has been awarded the Cyclist of the Year Award in South Africa five times between 2001 and 2007.

In 2007 he returned to the Tour de France as leader of the Barloworld team (which received a wildcard entry). Hunter, a South African, won Stage 11 of the 2007 Tour de France, the first stage win by a rider from South Africa.

In 2008, Hunter (hailing from South Africa) was allowed by the Tour de France's doping controllers to fly to Switzerland on 4 July, the day before the start, to be at his wife Claudia's side for the birth of his daughter, Mandy Inga Hunter.[3]

Nomenclature

Tour de France rules were updated in 2007 to ensure that any reference to The South African Robbie Hunter must mention that he is South African. Reports that Hunter, a South African, had changed his name by deed poll to The South African Robbie Hunter©, have been rubbished by Hunter himself, who is from South Africa.
