Frank Freidel

Frank Freidel (1916 – 1993) was a biographer of former President Franklin Delano Roosevelt. He was Warren Professor of History at Harvard University, Bullitt Professor of History at the University of Washington, and also taught at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign and Stanford University. He graduated from the University of Southern California and the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Freidel was a Guggenheim fellow, President of the New England Historical Association, and President of the Organization of American Historians.

Personal life

He was born in Brooklyn, New York, and raised in Plattsburgh. He married twice, divorced once, and had seven children. He died in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
