Festival Miami an annual music festival held at the University of Miami Coral Gables campus during the month of October. Founded in 1984 by Dean James William Hipp, Festival Miami was known as the International Festival of the Americas. One year later, the festival was renamed to Festival Miami. The mission of Festival Miami is to provide superior and diverse musical programming each year, while expanding academic opportunities and cultural enrichment to all of South Florida and its visitors.
