Lên đồng is the ritual of spirit mediumship in connection with Đạo Mẫu, a Vietnamese Mother Goddess religion. Practitioners utilize Len Dong to connect followers with various deities. Scholars have shown Len Dong to be a showcase of Vietnamese culture in general. The Vietnamese government legalized Len Dong in 1987 after having it deemed as superstitious and prohibited. It is seeing a recurrence in popularity of practice. Len Dong is performed throughout Vietnam, and notably in Silicon Valley, USA.

Len Dong can also be seen as the Vietnamese version of East Asian spirit mediumship practiced all over Asia, mainly in Taiwan, Singapore and Hong Kong.
