Dates??

If Messier first observed the comet through Dec. 30th, 1759 wouldn't the discovery date be sometime earlier that Dec. 30th instead of 8 days later on Jan 8th 1760? What constitutes "discovery"? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 12.34.246.79 (talk) 20:49, 1 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The article is clearly contradictory, I have tagged it as such. Also there are no references so it is unclear where any of the information came from or if it is correct at all. 84.81.177.148 (talk) 13:04, 19 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
