Shinsaku Uesugi is a FIDE Master (FM, World Chess Federation Master)[1] of Japan and played for Japan at the 38th Chess Olympic in Dresden, Germany in November 2008. He won the 40th Japan National Chess Championship in May 2007 and became youngest ever National Champion (16 years, 18 days old).
Shinsaku Uesugi was born in Kyoto, Japan on April 17, 1991 and moved to the United States in March 2000. He graduated from Winston Churchill High School (Montgomery County, Maryland) in June 2010 and is attending University of California, Berkeley.
