Mina Saad Meman (born June 16, 1990) is a Kurdish-American anthropologist and the founder of the Journey to Heal Kurdistan, an organization that researches the health system in Kurdistan, Iraq. She is currently a student at Portland State University.

INTERNATIONAL WORK Meman has dedicated her humanitarian efforts to the Kurdish people located in Nothern Iraq for the summer of 2010 and has expressed that she will continue with these endeavors in the future. She spent the summer of 2010 interviews doctors, patients, non-medical employees of public and private clinics and hospitals throughout the Iraqi-Kurdistan region as well as members of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) and members of the Parliament. According to an interview with the Daily Vanguard and eKurd.net, as founder of the Journey to Heal Kurdistan, Mina Saad has teamed with Dr. Aubyn Marath, President of CardioStart International, to bring an updated cardiothoracic unit to Rizgary Teaching Hospital, a central public institution in Erbil. Mina Saad and CardioStart International are expected to carry out this establishment in early 2011.

THE JOURNEY TO HEAL KURDISTAN is the unofficial organization founded by Mina Saad in August 2009, although she has expressed interest in applying as an official non-profit organization, or 501(c)3, on her blog: www.healkurdistan.blogspot.com. The purpose of the Journey to Heal Kurdistan is to implement the strategies that more developed nations have established. Meman has stated that she intends to implement a new public health education system in the future and reconstruct the current health policy that is being executed in present-day Kurdistan. On her blog, Meman publishes her interviews and experiences, as well as photos and videos from her video blog, that mark her days in Kurdistan.

MEEMS IN THE MIDDLE EAST is Meman's second blog, dedicated to exposing the cultural experiences that she has had in the Middle East. As of August 20th, 2010, this site was under development. For future reference, it can be reached at www.minameman.blogspot.com.

EDUCATION Current Education: In September 2008, Meman began to attend Portland State University, located in Portland, OR, majoring in Microbiology, with special interests in Journalism and Health Research. She is currently a junior at Portland State University. She has expressed interest in attending Oregon Health & Sciences University (OHSU) in Portland, OR after graduation. One of her long-term goals is to have a career in Cardiothoracic Surgery and research arrhythmogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy/dysplasia, ARVC/D, with specialists at John Hopkins center for research. Another long-term goal for Meman is to work with Partners-In-Health (PIH). Meman has taken six years of Germanic languages and four years of the Spanish language education offered through various institutions. She speaks Kurdish and English fluently.

Primary Education: She attended Metzger Elementary School from 1997-1998. She attended Durham Elementary School from 1996-1997, and again from 1998-2001, and was always noted to be a remarkable writer and an excellent student in her class. For junior high, Mina Meman attended Twality Middle from 2001-2004. She resumed her education at Tigard High School from 2004-2006 and graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 2008.

PERSONAL Mina Saad and her family sought refuge to the United States of America as one of the first groups to go through Guam. Apart from inconsistent travels, Meman has lived most of her life in Portland, OR.

CURRENTLY Mina Meman left to Kurdistan, Iraq on June 16th, 2010, researching the current health system and health policies that are established there. She announced her safe arrival on June 17th, 2010. She has noted on her blog, The Journey to Heal Kurdistan, that this trip will last approximately three months. She has yet to return to the United States.
