Belinda Jeffrey (born 1972, Adelaide) is an Australian writer. In 2006 her short story The Hallelujah Roof was published in the One Book, Many Brisbane.[1] Her first novel Brown Skin Blue was published by University of Queensland Press in 2009, and was followed by Big River, Little Fish in 2010.[2]

She currently lives in Brisbane with her husband, and two sons.[3]

Early Life and Work

Belinda Jeffrey was born in Adelaide, S.A. in 1972, and before writing her first novel worked as an assistant nurse, primary school teacher and therapist in complementary health.

Writing Career

After attending a croc-jumping tour in the Northern Territory, Belinda Jeffrey began work on her first novel Brown Skin Blue, a Young Adult book which deals with themes of abuse, Indigenous Australian culture, racism and identity.[4][5] Her second novel Big River, Little Fish is set on the Murray River
