Bjorn Basson is a professional rugby union rugby player.[1] His preferred position is on the wing, where he plays for the Super 14 Team, The Cheetahs. Basson has also been selected to play for the senior South African Springbok team. Basson is also able to play in the fullback position. His speed makes him a dangerous runner when given the space. In 2008 Basson was chosen to represent the Emerging South Africa team. A team which went on to win the IRB Nations Cup in Romania, 2008.[1] Born in 1987, Basson is expected[who?] to have a promising future with the Springboks for some years still to come.[citation needed]
Basson signed a two year contract with the Blue Bulls Company on the September 19, 2010 [2]. He is currently one of the leading try scorers in the ABSA Currie Cup competition. He is now the sole record holder for most tries in a Currie Cup season, with 21 tries.
