David J. Teece is the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Berkeley Research Group, and Thomas W. Tusher Chair in Global Business and director of the Institute of Management, Innovation, and Organization at the Haas School of Business, University of California, Berkeley. Teece received his M.A. and Ph.D. in economics from the University of Pennsylvania. Teece is a leading researcher in the fields of corporate strategy and innovation who in 2002 was listed among the "Top 50 Business Intellectuals" by Accenture.

Among his many other academic and commercial activities, he was the founder and vice-chairman of Law and Economics Consulting Group (LECG), a business that provides expert advice and testimony to companies and countries in need of independent economic analysis and review. He also acts as economic advisor to companies and governments.

In New Zealand, David Teece is mainly known as a scholar and economic consultant, co-owner of the global rugby brand CCC, co-founder and builder of LECG LLC and co-founder of the Kiwi Expat Association, KEA.

David became intrigued with economic policy from a young age. He obtained first class honours in the subject at the University of Canterbury in New Zealand, before heading to the US to complete his PhD.
