Fixed cost maintenance: Power By The Hour

The key feature of the program is that it undertakes to provide the operator with a fixed engine maintenance cost over an extended period of time. Operators are assured of an accurate cost projection and avoid the costs associated with breakdowns.

The Power By The Hour program is an available option for operators of several aircraft engines manufactured by Roll-Royce Corporation.

In 2005, the US Navy praised highly Rolls-Royce for services provided as part of the Power By The hour program. Captain Win Everett, Program Manager for the US Navy’s Undergraduate Flight Training Systems at Patuxent River, Maryland referring to support for the F405 engine on the T-45 Goshawk training aircraft said: "Under Rolls-Royce, engine availability has exceeded the current target of 85 per cent, the average time between engine removals has increased from 700 hours to over 900 hours and expected engine removals have fallen by 15 per cent."[citation needed]
