Svele is a Norwegian dessert made of egg, sugar, kefir, wheat flour, baking soda, ammonium bicarbonate og butter. They are usually baked on a griddle. A svele may be thick or thin, according to taste. Usually they are eaten with butter and sugar on, or sour cream and strawberry jam. Whipped cream is a festive alternative.

In former times, recipes were more sparse. They did not always include eggs, or ammonium bicarbonate. Some used raisins for added nutritional value. In Norway it is commonly eaten with butter and brunost.
