The 5 cm band in the United States lies between the U-NII and ISM band for license-free applications including WiFi, and the commercial microwave band which covers 5925-6425 MHz. The amateur allocation extends from 5650 to 5925 MHz, overlapping the license-free band from 5470 to 5725.[1] 5 cm is one of the primary bands for high-speed multimedia radio, as much of the UNII/ISM equipment may be returned to amateur frequencies.
