Texas Review of Entertainment & Sports Law
The Texas Review of Entertainment and Sports Law (TRESL) is a student-edited law journal at The University of Texas School of Law (UT Law). TRESL's stated goal is "to chronicle, comment on, and influence the shape of the law that affects the entertainment and sports industries, throughout the United States and the world."[1]
History
TRESL was founded in 1997 by UT Law students Stephen Wade Nebgen and Jamie Nordhouse, along with approximately twenty other students solicited through UT Law's Entertainment and Sports Law Society.[2] Nebgen credits UT Law Professors David Sokolow and Wayne Schiess (both of whom continue to serve on the journal's editorial advisory board, as of Fall 2010) with providing invaluable advice during TRESL's startup phase, as none of the founding members had experience soliciting, editing, or publishing law review articles.
From 1997 to 1999, TRESL published student notes as a short supplement to the TESLAW Journal, a publication of the State Bar of Texas Entertainment and Sports Law Section. In 2000, TRESL became the eleventh journal at UT Law to commence nationwide publication of articles by judges, legal practitioners, professors, and students.
Membership
As of Fall 2010, TRESL featured approximately 60 members.
