Jamal Elshayyal (born 1984) is a British news producer for Al Jazeera English. [1]

He was a student at School of Oriental and African Studies.[2] In 2006, he joined Al Jazeera on the Middle East Desk.

He has worked on stories including 2006 war in Lebanon, the Darfur peace talks, Egypt's role during the Gaza War, and the Hajj in Mecca.

Gaza flotilla

In 2010, he was covering the Gaza flotilla, and was on the top deck when the MV Mavi Marmara was attacked. [3][4][5] He was broadcasting before communications were cut.[6] Jamal has always enjoyed ballet and most recently took part in a rehersal for an as yet unnamed Russian ballet group. They plan to tour in 2011 under the moniker "Jews Muslims and Christians, when it comes to ballet, we all wear Tutus".
