Born This Way is the upcoming third album by American recording artist Lady Gaga. The album's title was announced by Gaga while accepting the Video of the Year for "Bad Romance" at the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards. She then went on to sing the chorus from the title track, I'm beautiful in my way, 'cause God makes no mistakes. I'm on the right track, baby, I was born this way. The first single will be released sometime in December 2010 or early January 2011, with the album following some time between January and April 2011. The album is totally different in sound than The Fame and The Fame Monster, and there will be no other major producers on the album.

Background

In March 2010, during an interview with MTV United Kingdom, Gaga stated that she had begun work on her new studio album and had already finished writing the core theme of it.[2] Already during the first leg of The Monster Ball Tour in Fall of 2009, RedOne said to MTV News that they will be "making magic again", regarding Gaga's third album. He also said that during The Monster Ball Tour Gaga is scheduled to be back in the studio with all-new songs. “We're gonna start very, very soon … within weeks. You should wait for it. That's the mystery. That's what's going to make it more special when it comes out.” — RedOne

Three months later, in an interview with Rolling Stone, she stated that her second studio album was finished but will not be released until 2011. She said: "It came so quickly. I've been working on it for months, and I feel very strongly that it's finished right now. Some artists take years. I don't. I write music every day."[3] On June 9, 2010, Gaga played a new song entitled "You and I" on the Today Show's Toyota Concert Series. She said it was from the new album and "has a different sound than the album." She also said it "was written about the most important person that I ever met."[4] That person is reportedly Luc Carl, her former boyfriend she recently has made ammends with.[5] During the 2010 VMA's, Lady Gaga announced the name of her new album,"Born This Way", then started singing what is presumably the title track. The lyrics sang consisted of "I'm beautiful in my way, 'cause God makes no mistakes. I'm on the right track, baby, I was born this way."[6]

Lady Gaga has also stated that she will not be working with any other popular artists or producers. She said she wanted to "stand on my own two feet." The confirmed track "You and I" has been added to her Monster Ball Tour, but she has said the entire album does not sound the same as that song. The album is intended to be "the anthem for [her] generation for the next decade."[7] During an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Sir Elton John spoke about Born This Way. "...her record – it’s fucking amazing. ‘Born This Way’, which is the title song, will completely get rid of Gloria Gaynor’s ‘I Will Survive’. This is the new ‘I Will Survive’. That was the gay anthem. This is the new gay anthem. Actually, it’s not a gay anthem – it can apply to anybody." [8]

At one show during her Monster Ball Tour in Minnesota, she debuted a brand new song she had written called Living On The Radio. Gaga said that the track may not feature on her new record, but anything could happen. [9] A rumored leaked track titled "Nothing On (But the Radio)" has been swirling around on the Internet for the past few weeks. Neither Lady Gaga nor any any of her reps, however, have commented on the track's authenticity or whether or not it will be featured on Born This Way. [10]
