Carl Beech became a follower of Jesus at the age of 18. Having had a burning ambition to join the armed forces, he distinctly heard God call him to fight a different sort of battle. After studying a degree in engineering he worked variously as a financial consultant, church planter, youth worker, and senior pastor of a large multi-congregational church. He now heads up Christian Vision for Men[1], a national movement [2] focused on introducing men to Jesus and equipping the church for the task.

A regular conference speaker around the UK, Carl is known for his clear sighted, passionate and direct approach. He is currently involved in pioneering some groundbreaking evangelistic projects involving media and the web. He is founder of codelife[3] and the author of Spadework[4], Groundbreaker[5] and Real Men, Real God, Real Spirit[6].

Carl sits on the Evangelical Alliance Council[7]. He is also on the Council's of Fusion (student movement)[8] and Restored[9]. Carl is Consulting Editor of Sorted Magazine[10], "for men, for life"!

Carl enjoys sporting challenges and has recently cycled from Land's End to John o' Groats, Calais to Nice and the length of Italy - all in under 9 days. In 2010 he ran the London Marathon.

Criticisms

In February 2008, Carl was interviewed by Christianity Magazine in an article called "No man's land" and it was also featured on video on Premier. TV[11] The article was followed up in the next issue with an article entitled "A man's world"[12]. The interviews generated a large response from people both supporting and criticising his views (which called for a re-evaluation of church culture to make it more attractive to men). Some called his views divsive with others being very supportive and glad that someone was working to address the issues. Carl responded in the magazine with the comment that he welcomed the fact that the issue of declining numbers of men in church was finally being debated but hoped that the debate would translate into action.
