The App Game Kit (AGK) is a piece of cross-platform games development software currently under development by The Game Creators.[1]

Cross Platform Development

One of the key features of the AGK is that once code is written, it will be possible to compile it for a number of different platforms without needing to make any changes to the code. This will even apply to platforms with very different display sizes as the AGK will be screen resolution independent. The Game Creators have announced that the AGK will support compiling for iOS, Samsung Bada, Windows OS, Symbian^3, Android, Windows Mobile 7, Blackberry, MeeGo and XNA. However the initial launch will only support some of these platforms.[2]

AGK Script

Software produced with the App Game Kit will be written in a language called AGK Script. This language will have powerful inbuild commands including commands for 2D graphics and physics. The commands will make use of the platforms' native functions to improve performance. The commands will be designed to enhance code readability. The AGK Script commands will also have extensive online documentation. The language will be written using the Eclipse IDE.[3]

Projected Release Date

The Game Creators have announced that they hope to release the App Game Kit in early 2011. However this release is only planned to offer compilation for iOS, Samsung Bada, Windows OS and Symbian^3. Other platforms will be added in a second release which is planned for later in 2011.[4]

Retail Price

No retail price has yet been announced. However The Game Creators have said that it will be "free to try" and that it will offer "access to full source code".[5]
