Sacred Mother Tongue

Sacred Mother Tongue is a 4-piece British metal band from Northampton initially formed in 2004. The current line up (since 2008) consists of Darrin South (Vocals), Andy James (Guitar), Josh Gurner (Bass) and Lee Newell (Drums).

The band have performed at music festivals throughout the UK including Download Festival 2009, and Sonisphere Festival 2010 where Bass player Josh Gurner leapt off the stage, climbing a 2 storey Jagermeister bar to play to the crowd before heading into the pit into what fans on the internet have dubbed 'The Joshpit' gaining the band positive reviews in the music press.

Metal Hammer Magazine has called them "The most convincing young British Metal band to emerge in a long time".

Sacred Mother Tongue played at The Roadmender, Northampton as part of their "Homecoming Gig" along side fellow Northampton bands Sons of Betrayal and death metal band Held Beneath as well as Luton based band Imicus.They have also supported Lamb of God.

They are due to headline a tour in April 2011, alongside band -AR-, on the lead up to the release of their as yet untitled follow up album to "The Ruin of Man", which will be the first album that they write exclusively in this line up.

Andy James

Guitarist Andy James has a full endorsement with ESP Guitars and Blackstar Amplification and is widely regarded as the best breakthrough guitarist in the UK with a developed fan base of his own. He has also taught guitarists around the world through his successful range of tuition DVDs with the Guitar Community. LickLibrary

Discography

Sacred Mother Tongue's debut single "Two Thousand Eight Hundred" got to number 4 on the UK Rock chart receiving excellent reviews, making their debut album one of the most hotly anticipated metal releases in a long time.

The debut album, The Ruin of Man was released on Transcend Records was released in 2009 and a follow up album is reportedly in the process of being written.
