Business Class (J)

After receiving extensive criticism for its current high-walled herring-bone configuration business class seating on long-haul flights,[1] which many passengers felt was too narrow and confined, Cathay Pacific embarked on a total redesign of business class seating. The new design is more conventional, emphasising the passenger's sense of personal space while also retaining privacy. The seats will be introduced from March 2011 in flights to Sydney and April 2011 in flights to Los Angeles, New York and London with further long-haul and medium-haul destinations to follow through to the end of 2013.[2]

The new seats are longer and wider than the previous seats with a fully lie-flat design, lumbar support, massage, a 110 V AC power socket, and a personal phone. An iPhone/iPod connector allows video from those devices to be played on the personal TV screen while a USB port permits smartphones and other devices to be recharged in flight.[3]

Economy Class (Y)

Enhanced New Economy Class
CX has made some changes on its New Economy Seats after receiving feedback from passengers. The Enhanced seat features:
- Relocation of literature pocket from under the seat to the seatback in front
- Removal of amenity holder beside the PTV

The Enhanced New Economy Class will be featured on all newly delivered longhaul aircraft and will be progressively introduced on the existing retrofitted longhaul fleet by cabin zone.
