Nemertes Research is an independent research firm that specializes in quantifying the business impact of emerging technology.

Pronounced ("nuh MER teez"), the company is named for the sea goddess Nemertes, one of fifty Nereids, sisters who lived with their sea-god father Nereus in the Agean sea. They rendered navigational assistance to sailors, and were particularly venerated in port towns.

Nemertes Research conducts market research by interviewing IT practitioners. Nemertes analysts produce benchmark research reports and provide advice to corporate IT departments and vendors.

Research Process

Nemertes' process for each report includes hundreds of hours of primary research, including detailed conversations with vendors, service providers, and 40 to 60 IT executives selected from a home-grown network of 3,800. These IT executives share the details of their business and technical concerns with Nemertes analysts—seasoned executives with decades of personal operational and management experience who can communicate with the IT execs as peers. This peer-to-peer interaction with IT executives gives the analyst insight into how emerging technologies are deployed in the real world.
