I orginally said 'bureaucrats' because council 'officers' are - in many jurisdictions - specific elected officers of the council so the sentence could cause confusion outside the UK. Changed to 'employees' for a second go at a neutral and unconfusing term. 'staff' might also be an option.

Further details on how Alternative Arrangements councils operate O&S would be welcome - they are still required to have a committee.

I used to be a Scrutiny Officer and I'd be happy to contribute to this section as time allows. Dalliance 18:56, 8 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

2nd paragraph - "...Overview and Scrutiny Committee to meet the rules on proportionality defined..." - proportionality referring to Proportional representation or Proportionality (political maxim)? Onionmon 21:04, 27 September 2006 (UTC) ---- or Proportional justice? Onionmon 21:17, 27 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

scrutiny requirements

Re the 2nd para - it is definitely a requirement to have a scrutiny committee, but is it really a requirement for all non-executive members to be part of it? Are we sure about this? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by JJardine (talkcontribs) 16:12, 7 December 2006 (UTC).[reply]

2010 changes

I have updated the page to reflect changes since 2006 and also added some references. It does still need some work though. Edhammond2 (talk) 11:28, 15 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

'The Government is expected to introduce a new Bill in late November 2010'. Should this statement be updated? 82.31.133.165 (talk) 16:15, 13 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
