Merging with Cosmesis

Abstract: Against merging.

Long version: I am not sure where the proposal came from but despite their similarities, plastic surgery and cosmesis are distinct practices, albeit with significant overlap. While plastic procedures involve visible areas of the body, their primary purpose is not necessarily cosmesis. Resection of skin, subcutaneous and muscle tumors, cleft-pallet repairs and skin grafting for burns are just some examples of plastic procedures where cosmesis is of secondary importance.
