For example, to add a footnote with a reference (in the normal reference group), the syntax would be:

{{#tag:ref|PUT THE NOTE HERE<ref>PUT THE REFERENCE HERE</ref>|group="Note"}}

This will work with normal named references, and citation templates, etc. A specific example is;

[[Jimmy Wales]] thinks more research is needed into the accuracy of Wikipedia.
