Holme Valley War Memorial was openined in July 1921 by Colonel H. R. Headlam who had previously commanded the 5th Battalion, (Huddersfield and Holmfirth) Duke of Wellington’s West Riding Regiment. It is set in the grounds of the Holme Valley Memorial Hospital which had opened the year before.

The memorial is a simple cross with the names of fallen soldiers on it, arranged by village and township.

Fulstone

Those who served and died from the Fulstone area include Private Lewis Booth, who died in April 1918. His grave is in Niederzwehren cemetery in Germany. This cemetery is mainly for Prisoners of War.
