In 2005, YouTube was born. Smosh was one of the first channels consisting of Ian Hecox and his friend Anthony Padilla; who lip synced the theme songs to Transformers, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Pokemon, and Mortal Combat. They instantly became a rocket hit. They claimed the #1 most-subscribed spot until 2008, being passed by Lucas Cruikshank's FRED channel, and Ryan Higa's nigahiga channel. They even have their own website, at smosh.com.
