Zynga With Friends, formerly Newtoy, Inc. is a video game developer, perhaps best known for creating the iPhone/iPod touch games Chess with Friends in November 2008 and Words With Friends in August 2009. It is one of the four game developers that was formed after the disbanding of Ensemble Studios, the other three being Robot Entertainment, Bonfire Studios, and Windstorm Studios.

History

Newtoy was founded in 2008 by several former Ensemble game developers, becoming the third game developer to succeed Ensemble after Robot Entertainment and Bonfire Studios.[1] In November 2008, Newtoy released its first known game for the iPhone and iPod touch, Chess with Friends, an online game released for the Apple App Store.[2] Later, in August the following year, it released its second known game for iPhone and iPod touch, Words with Friends, another online game with an almost exact format to Scrabble.[3] As of March 6, 2011, both games are updated regularly by Newtoy, and it is unknown when it will release another game. On April 7, 2011 Newtoy Inc. was rebranded as "Zynga With Friends".
