UrbanBaby is a New York-based Internet forum devoted to anonymous discussion of urban motherhood. Founded in August 1999, it is known for its unique online culture, a New Yorker mix of snark and sophistication.

The forum is known for its unique acronyms, including DH ("dear husband")and HHI (household income).[1] Abrasive rejoinders like "STFU" and "MYOB" are also frequent.[2]

The site is also notable for having employed David Karp as a software consultant before he went on to found Tumblr using his earnings from (and knowledge gained during) his time at UrbanBaby. [3]

The site has recently been taken over by someone (probably a NYC teen) claiming to be from New Zealand, posting crude racist comments on every single thread. (April 2011).

A similar site in Japan is the Yomiuri Shimbun's Hatsugen Komachi.
