Leandro Vieira (born June 5, 1981) is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu competitor and instructor under the Check Mat organization. Leandro has gained distinction as one of the three famed Vieira Bros of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Like the Machado Bros and Gracie Clan, the Vieiras are synonymous with high level Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and are one of the most successful families at the World Champion level in the sport. The Vieira Bros are (from oldest to youngest): Leonardo, Ricardo, and Leandro.

Education

Scholastically, Vieira graduated from Universidade Ibuapuera with a degree in Publicity and Marketing with a focus on design.

As a trade, Vieira has been teaching Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) since his teen years. He was graduated to black belt in 2004 by his brother, Ricardo Vieira, at the Fight Zone Academy in Copacabana, Brazil. He is regarded as one of the best instructors in Team Check Mat.[1]

Career

While maintaining his competitive jiu-jitsu career (trophies listed below), Vieira has molded himself into a master level instructor.[2] Vieira previously taught as a child instructor at Master Team Rio de Janeiro, an adult instructor at Ricardo Vieira's Fight Zone, and as an assistant instructor to Leo Vieira at Check Mat São Paulo.[3]

Personal life

Leandro is a part of the famed Vieira Bros of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. He is the two years younger than Ricardo and five years younger than Leonardo. He also has two other adopted brothers, coincidentally named Leo and Leandro. His father, Manuel was an avid fan of the martial arts and he got all three of his sons enrolled at Master Academy at a young age. For his time, Leandro was the youngest student to be admitted into the academy. Leandro has a seven year old son named Felipe.
