Robert "The Nordic Nightmare" Helenius (born January 2, 1984 in Stockholm) is a Finnish professional Heavyweight boxer. As an amateur he won Silver at the European Championships 2006 at super heavyweight. In 2010 Helenius won the EU heavyweight title defeating Gregory Tony.

Amateur

Helenius won the bronze medal in 2000 at the European "cadets"(U 17) championships in Patras, he lost to Croatian Mario Preskar. 2001 in Sarajevo at the junior European Championships he made another bronze losing to hard-hitting Russian Islam Timurziev.

2005 in Mianyang he beat David Price on points but lost to Rustam Saidov

2006, however, was his breakthrough year as at the 2006 European Amateur Boxing Championships in Plovdiv he finished second again beaten by Timurziev this time on points. By this time all of Helenius' victories had come by KO including vs Bogdan Dinu.

Since 2006 he is fighting in Germany in the Box-Bundesliga for Hertha BSC Promoter Sauerland-Boxstall had bought an option if he turns pro after the Olympics. At the Olympic qualifiers he lost to Marko Tomasović and Jaroslavas Jakšto. He also faced MMA heavyweight fighter Sergei Kharitonov in the amateurs beating him by points.

Pro

He turned pro for Germany's Wilfried Sauerland in 2008. He has clean record with 15 wins (10 KO). In 2009 Helenius knocked out former British heavyveight champion Scott Gammer and won Taras Bidenko by a 3rd round stoppage victory. In January 2010 he won the former WBO World champion Lamon Brewster by TKO in the 8th round. He won against Gbenga Oloukun on March 26, 2010 in Helsinki, despite breaking a bone in the knuckles of his right hand.

In August 2010 Helenius won the vacant EU heavyweight title against unbeaten Gregory Tony. He defended his title for first time on 27 November 2010 by winning Attila Levin with a technical knockout in the second round. In the same match he also won the vacant WBO Inter-Continental title. On 2 April 2011 he defeated Samuel Peter in the ninth round, successfully defending his WBO Inter-Continental title and also winning the vacant WBA Inter-Continental title.
