Introduction

Hi! My name is Stephanie Campbell. I am from a very small town in Southwestern Ontario called Chatham, Ontario. I come from a primarily cash crop farm which has had a very large impact on my life.

Personal Life

I am very involved in the 4-H Association in my county.
  • I have been a member of the Chatham-Kent 4-H Association since the age of 10. Over the past 8 years, I have completed 66 clubs ranging from field crop, plowing, and sheep to sewing, cooking and square dancing. I have received many opportunities through the 4-H program. In 2007 I got chosen as the Outstanding 4-H Female of the Year and recipient of the CFCO Blackburn radio group bursary. I have also been named the Top Agricultural Member of the Year, Top Secretary, and Top Youth Leader along with receiving the Gay Lee Award of Achievement and the Glen Clark Memorial trophy. I have been involved with 4-H as not only a member but as a volunteer as well. I have sat on the board of directors as a youth director, brining the needs of the youth to the board and I currently hold the position of Webmaster, since the age of 12, for the Chatham-Kent 4-H Association. I have held many executive positions in a variety of clubs such as President, Vice-President, Secretary, Press Reporter, Phone Caller, Photographer and Youth Leader. Not only have I been involved at the local level but at a regional level as well. I have attended and volunteered at Discovery Days, and attended Youth Adventure Camp (Member’s Conference) where I met youth from all over South-western Ontario. As a member of the Blenheim Field Crop Club I have received the Top Ear Corn Sample, Top Wheat Sample and Top Overall Sample. I have entered my field crop samples as well as showing goats at the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair in Toronto and in 2007 I received the top wheat sample. Through the 4-H program there are many ways to volunteer and get involved in the community. Throughout my 8 years in 4-H I have volunteered at many events such as the Taste of Kent Gala, a Soil Management Workshop, Southwest Agricultural Conferences as well as many car washes and barbeques. I have organized games for local events like the Halloween party held at Lindsay Road United Church. I have participated in the Chatham-Kent Plowing Match for the past eight years and have been given the award of Best Plowed land by a lady. I have participated in the local Judging Nights as well as the Regional 4-H Fun Day Judging Competition. I have been on a local Go for the Gold team entering in both local and regional competitions. I have been on the Chatham-Kent Team for the Ridgetown College Spring Expo (Ridgetown Review – University of Guelph, Ridgetown Campus) in which Chatham-Kent was the Champion Team. Each year I create a PowerPoint show that showcases all that the Chatham-Kent 4-H Association has done throughout the year, which is shown at the 4-H Annual Meeting. I have had the opportunity to show a number of different animals at the Rodney, Leamington, Glencoe, Ridgetown, Wallacetown, Brigdon and Dresden Exhibitions/Fairs. Most recently I have had the great opportunity to be the recipient of the Kent District Women’s Institute Scholarship and to show the gratitude that the 4-H program has for the support from organizations from the community.

Education and Academic Career

As a young elementry school student I attended Harwich Raleigh Pulbic School in Blenheim, Ontario
