Magenbrot...

...is a diamond formed biscuit. It´s tiny glazed and it´s sweet. Especially they were sold on fairs and Christmas Markets.

Megenbrot includes stomach friendly - therefore the Name - Spices like cloves, cinnamon, star anise and mace. For the Dark Brown color is cocoa liable. To sweeten was Honey the first "sugar". But today most people use Sugar instead of Honey. Magenbrot is a speciality from the Northern of Schweiz and South Germany, where it was formerly known as "herb bread", when it was not mixed with Chocolate.

In Cook Books from before 1946 went recipes their want nothing to do with the today´s fairs and Markets. There also went known as Alpenkräuter-Brot.
