The Action of March 10th, 2011 was a firefight in the Kashmir valley between Kashmir police and Jaish e Mohammed militiamen which resulted in the death of Jaish e Mohammed leader Sajjad Afghani and his personal bodyguard, Bilal. [1]

The firefight started when several people in the Kashmir valley spotted an armed car rolling by and carrying two Jaish e Mohammed militant fighters. One of the terrorists was said to be Jaish leader Sajjad Afghani, the most wanted militant in the Kashmir valley and a commander who had been active for over eight years. [1] The people notified the Kashmir police, who immediately tracked down the car and eventually found it. The Kashmir police hid and attempted to fire without being seen, but were spotted by Afghani, who was in the car with his bodyguard, Bilal. Afghani ordered Bilal to fire a machine gun at the police. Bilal did so and injured two policemen, but the police began shooting back. [1] Bilal was killed by the retaliatory fire and Afghani was ambushed by other police, who shot through the front windshield, sending the car out of control. When the car crashed and stopped moving, the police looked inside and found Afghani lying dead and sporting several gunshot wounds. [1] The police and civilians celebrated their success in killing the most wanted militant in Kashmir and the local news announced Afghani's death to the Indian people. [1]
