2005 Women's College World Series
The 2005 Women's College World Series was held June 2 through June 8, 2005 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Eight NCAA Division I college softball teams met after having advanced through a 64-team bracket to play in the World Series at ASA Hall of Fame Stadium. The official host for the event is the University of Oklahoma. The tournament was won by the Michigan Wolverines of the Big Ten Conference. The series was an historical one in that it was the first with a championship best of three game series, rather than a single championship game. Michigan came back to win the last two games after falling in the first contest against UCLA. Michigan also became the first team east of the Mississippi River to win the NCAA Division I Softball championship.
