Drakensang: The River of Time is a computer role-playing game developed by Radon Labs. It is a sequel (though in-story it serves as a prequel) to Drakensang (The Dark Eye). Drakensang TROT is the second personal computer game in The Dark Eye-universe since Attic's Northlands Trilogy (Realms of Arkania: Blade of Destiny, Realms of Arkania: Star Trail and Realms of Arkania: Shadows over Riva) from the 1990s.

Just like the original Drakensang, it has a fairly lighthearted storysetting in a traditional RPG party-based style, with a 'real-time' turn-based playmode. This means it has a totally different style and approach than RPG's like morrowind, Oblivion, Skyrim, The Witcher, etc., which are primarily focused on the 'lone hero' type of playstyle, and which is geared towards simplyfying the gameplay to make it appealling to a large audience. In contrast, Drakensang is much more geared towards hardcore RPG-players, which means the complexity of the game and learningcurve is much more steep, but once you get used to the more hard-core rpg elements in drakensang, and the turn-based party style, it's quite fun. Drakensang TROT also (to a large extend) dealt with the minor criticism of the first game, such as the fact you couldn't return to most area's visited (and the end finished everything, even if one feel like exploring some more).

However, due to bad timing in publishing - alongside other blockbuster RPG's - this second indie-game of the franchise did not fair well financially, and subsequently Radon Labs were declared bankrupt.
