Alex Glenn (born 31 July 1988 in New Zealand) is a professional rugby league footballer. He is a member of the Brisbane Broncos in the NRL.

Playing career

Glenn, a Northcote junior, captained Brisbane's Toyota Cup team in 2008 and played for the Junior Kiwis in their victory over the Junior Kangaroos in Wellington in 2007.

Glenn is a utility for the Broncos, although in late 2009 he was covering for centre Justin Hodges on the right hand side of the field with Israel Folau. Glenn proved he could also play lock in 2008. He is seen as a 10+ year player for the Brisbane Broncos.[citation needed] In 2009 he played in 24 NRL games, standing down in Round 25 vs the Dragons to an ankle injury.

In Round 14 2011, Glenn became the youngest ever Broncos captain, aged 22. Glenn scored a try as they defeated the Raiders 25-24 in golden point extra time.

Reresentative career

2007 Glenn was named in the Australian Under 20s national touch football development squad, having represented at a national level throughout his teens, he was also selected for U19 Qld State of Origin side but declined both opportunities to represent a Kiwi Jersey one day. In 2005 & 2006 he won the senior sportsperson of the year award at Miami State High on the Gold Coast.

Glenn was part of the Cook Islands squad for the 2009 Pacific Cup, although he pulled out due to injury.[1][2]

In 2010 he was selected in the test squad for New Zealand to play against Australia, however he was named as 18th man and did not play in the test.[3] Instead, Glenn represented the Cook Islands at the end of the year.
