Hari was born to GS Kartha, an eminent journalist in Trivandrum. He slept hearing not lullbies but the tick tick sound of the teleprinter. He studied in Model school and Arts college, two prestigious institutions in the capital of Kerala. He started his career as a subeditor in Keralapatrika after undergoing a journalist course in Trivandrun press club.Later he worked as state correspondent of Financial Tmes, Economic Times, Reuters, Star News. Now he is the chief editor of Janmabhumi daily

In TV It's the television which made Hari a celebrity.
