Do not post profiles for non-notable karate styles.—Ryūlóng (竜龙) 23:30, 23 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Shindo Jinen Ryu is very much a notable karate style. It is taught in over 20 countries throughout the world, it's leadership servers in the JKF, and its chief overseas instructor, Kiyoshi Yamazaki, has held numerous posts in both the WNKF and the USANKF. Mina Yamazaki, one of the top-ranked competitors in international karate competition, is a Shindo Jinen Ryu pratitioner. Finally, the merging of Shindo Jinen Ryu with the entry for Dai Nippon Butoku Kai is factually incorrect, and my entry remedies that error. Pbelleisle (talk) 23:34, 23 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Regardless of what you think, Wikipedia has had a long standing issue with users like yourself who believe that any particular form of martial arts are notable for coverage. Everyone and their grandmother can lay claim to having a karate style that is unique and notable. Wikipedia has strict standards for coverage that Shindo Jinen Ryu does not match.—Ryūlóng (竜龙) 23:49, 23 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Can you please refer me to where I can find these standards? Given that Shindo Jinen Ryu is one of the original Japanese karate styles, I'm pretty certain I can make a strong case that it should be included. I'm not sure what experiences you have had with other users, but I'm a noob, so I'd like to keep this constructive as opposed to borderline personal, as your last entry came across. I'm looking to contribute, not cause problems!Pbelleisle (talk) 00:06, 24 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
WP:MANOTE is where the rules for inclusions of martial arts styles can be found.—Ryūlóng (竜龙) 00:21, 24 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Ryulong - I have already added more sources to the Yasuhiro Konishi entry, and am preparing a summary of points about both the topic and supporting sources that I will include on the AFD discussion page. While I was doing so, I had some thoughts on which I'd like to get your opinion, if you have a moment. Assuming that I am successful in supporting the articles for Yasuhiro Konishi and Japan Karate-Do Ryobu-Kai (JKR) and Shindo Jinen Ryu, I think it makes sense to merge articles for JKR and Shindo Jinen Ryu. This would create a single, stronger article for which I can provide additional sources. With that in mind, I'd like to take my content from the Shindo Jinen Ryu article which you removed and merge it into the JKR article, and then edit the existing Shindo Jinen Ryu page - which currently redirects incorrectly to the Dai Nippon Butoku Kai page - to redirect to a new, consolidated JKR page, which can then be evaluated as part of the AFD process. Any objections to my doing what I have described above, inclusive of the new Shindo Jinen Ryu redirect?Pbelleisle (talk) 18:22, 24 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
