Rattus salocco is a rodent of the genus rattus. This species is known only from the southeastern peninsula of Sulawesi, 300 and 1500 m altitude. This animal belongs to the Rattus xanthurus group, which may be a separate sex. Although this species is usually considered a subspecies of rattus xanthurus, in 2005 a still unpublished article showing that R. salocco a separate species, most related to R. marmosurus .[1]
