Roads to Judah is the debut studio album by the American rock band Deafheaven. The album was released by Deathwish Inc. on April 26, 2011.[1] Roads to Judah was recorded in four days between December 2010 and January 2011. An unmastered copy of the album leaked in February 2011. The band expressed displeasure with an incomplete copy of the album circulating the internet.[2]

Live

By September 2010, Language Games and Unrequited had been introduced into the band's live setlist.[3] Both songs originally featured alternate lyrics until late 2010 when lyrics had been finalized. Additionally, an early 4 minute long version of Violet had been used as a set opener until February 2011.[4] This rendition is musically identical to the album version, but features vocals instead of being purely instrumental. The lyrics eventually became the final verse of the album version of the song.

On May 3, 2011, Roads to Judah was played in full live for the first and so far only time ever at Sub-Mission Art Space in San Francisco, CA. The band made claims prior to the show that Tunnel of Trees would "probably" only be performed once at this event only, but later introduced the song into the setlist at the end of their summer tour that year.[5]
