Kinnie was developed in 1952 by Simonds Farsons Cisk PLC on the island of Malta. This non-alcoholic, bitter tasting drink is made from bitter oranges and aromatic herbs, and has a golden amber colour. Since 1984, a diet version has been available. In 1975, Kinnie was selected beverage of the year by the French organization Comite International d'Action Gastronomique et Touristique.
